When I was growing up, I watched my mom work multiple jobs and still struggle, having to turn to organizations like Metro Caring to help make ends meet. From an early age I knew that wasn’t fair, and as an adult I’ve dedicated my career to working to ensure that others don’t have to go through what my family did. I’ve worked in the Denver nonprofit sector for nearly 20 years in a variety of roles that have allowed me to cultivate strong relationships across lines of difference in service of a more inclusive and caring Denver community. I love Metro Caring because of the people. Everyone is passionate about our mission, their community, and food, of course. When I walk down the hall and meet a new participant or run into a longtime volunteer and get to hear people's stories and learn about their backgrounds, their communities, and what drives them, that's what feeds me, no pun intended.
