WIC Appointments Onsite

A WIC counselor will be available at Metro Caring every Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00pm.

What is WIC?

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides nutritious foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk. Those who have children under age five in their household are also eligible for services (i.e. dads, grandparents, foster families, other caregivers)

What is required of participants?

Anyone coming for a WIC appointment needs to provide a proof of ID (Driver’s License, Medicaid card, CO ID card, passport, birth certificate, SSC, work/school/military ID). Appointments can range from 15 mins to an hour+ depending on where they are in their certification cycle and how many family members are applying.

The Right to Rest Film Screening

“The Right to Rest,” a new Denver-focused documentary, is a tribute to the people experiencing homelessness and their supporters who together built a community of tiny homes as an alternative to shelters and a step toward permanent housing.

Free event! Donations accepted and will be split between the film makers and Metro Caring.

Dinner at 5:30 pm followed by the film screening and a conversation with the movement makers.

Join us for a day of lobbying at the Statehouse. Colorado’s legislators need to hear from you! You will walk away from this event feeling empowered and equipped to effectively voice your position on proposed legislation to your state elected officials. All are welcome!

The All Families Deserve a Chance (AFDC) coalition is an all-volunteer network of direct service providers and policy experts that educate, strategize, lobby, support, and inform the community on issues impacting low-income families.

AGENDA
8AM --Breakfast in House Committee Room 0112 (look for people wearing teal and AFDC buttons)
8:30AM -- Advocacy training
9:30AM -- Break into lobbying teams and meet with legislators
11:30AM -- Debrief and lunch

Dress professionally; no words or symbols on clothing. Wear the color teal if possible!
